They're just the ones that I was able to find without much effort because I like them for other reasons and have kept them visible in the room in which I paint.Jean Spitzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13520415864511680025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596223475426533484.post-4966445480150487842009-05-12T10:06:00.000-05:002009-05-12T10:06:00.000-05:00Exactly; it's much easier to be creative with few...Exactly; it's much easier to be creative with fewer choices. The Zorn palette is actually a real choice, not just an exercise, for realist oil painters of portraits--it produces amazing and beautifully subtle skin tones.Jean Spitzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13520415864511680025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596223475426533484.post-11103485241469657582009-05-12T05:01:00.000-05:002009-05-12T05:01:00.000-05:00Thank you for this post, Jean. I'd never heard of the Zorn palette, but I've always found that limiting choices in any way, be it a limited palette or some other restriction, seems to free up my creativity. I love what you've done - the portrait on the right especially.caseytoussainthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04482259941095650449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596223475426533484.post-25771032368762965972009-05-10T15:42:00.000-05:002009-05-10T15:42:00.000-05:00I think in art, it's called creativity; no two peo...I think in art, it's called creativity; no two people will do exactly the same thing with any art assignment. In my case I was allowed two colors plus white. I chose alizeran crimson and yellow ocher. I probably cheated but we were told to look at the work of Morandi.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596223475426533484.post-44422022360773905232009-05-10T13:31:00.000-05:002009-05-10T13:31:00.000-05:00I'm glad. I have no idea about what the book will be, except that he was a terrific story teller/teacher, so it ought to be informative and interesting.Jean Spitzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13520415864511680025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596223475426533484.post-90669861174444755452009-05-10T10:01:00.000-05:002009-05-10T10:01:00.000-05:00Will check out that site.
