Standing Figure In Yellow; Standing Figures

Drawn this morning, from life.

The standing gesture poses are pastel on 12"x16" pastel paper.

I was using some very old, very soft pastels that had apparently been through too many extreme temperature changes: They crumpled to nothing but powder as I tried to use them. It was frustrating.

I like the last one best. Something about their having similar vertical lines, but some differences in shape and color, little or no gender separation . . . that adds up to something interesting. The red of course stands out . . .

Thanks, Banjo.

Those are one minute gesture poses, piled on top of each other.

I don't often get to drawing early enough to draw these poses, but they tend to be some of my favorites, too, because they can be more dynamic.

I like the last one best too. It has a lot of energy. You do amazing work, even with your crumpled pastels and frustration.

Susan is right about the energy. Sort of has a 60s feel to me, and I like it.
