I was using a fountain pen for this drawing--first time trying it. It surprised me by blotting into the absorbent watercolor paper. I washed some of it out, then tried again, using different ink in places I didn't like the accidental stars and blobs.
Lately, I've been using life drawing as a starting place for works that combine reality, imagination and experience.

Fluid line - huge impact! Love this.
ReplyDeleteWell done. Feels like she's about to move.
ReplyDeleteYour drawings are very strong and expressive !
ReplyDeleteLike the build up from the searching construction lines to the final simplicity in such a pose.
ReplyDeleteVery firm lines! Solid construction. A different approach from your fluid style. I favor fluid, but I'm an old dog. 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks, all.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on getting my art ready to show. Sorting old work, figuring out ways to mount that work and then making them gallery-ready.
These new drawings are a pleasure in a busy time.
Also, now that I have space to paint again, potentially thumbnails for future paintings.
ReplyDeleteLovely strong lines. I'm enjoying your different approaches.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Helen.
ReplyDeleteI'm using what's available when I'm at the life drawing sessions.

ReplyDeleteI always liked using a bamboo nib. I recently saw one for sale but I can't remember where. And watercolor paper loves to blob.
DeleteI liked some of the accidents. And I love the way the ink flows from the fountain pen.
DeleteI've had much less success with bamboo nib, though I do love the sumi drawing brush and ink.
Your drawings are full of sensitivity.
ReplyDeletePrecious. Have a nice day.
Thank you, J. You, too.
ReplyDeleteVery zen.
ReplyDeleteVery zen.
ReplyDeleteNot feeling too puny, or I could have fun with this.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karin.
Punny, of course.
