Sunday Morning at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago

My work in place in the Small Gallery at Palette and Chisel.

The exhibit runs through June 15.

The gallery is one of the former drawing rooms in this 19th century mansion.

The largest light-filled space, used for classes and for open studios with live models, is on the third floor, where the mansion's ballroom once was.

  1. A lovely spot to exhibit art! The mansion allows visitors to see how the works would look in a home. Your painting looks wonderful in what's obviously a space of honor.

  6. Thanks, all.

I am thrilled to have been asked to participate in the show and very happy I agreed to do so.

Even though I was in the middle of packing up for a local move and even though I'm now living with towers of boxes waiting to be unpacked, it was worthwhile finding time for this.

  7. I spy a red dot...and I recognize some of your figurative work too. Lovely setting. Like that you have a corner to yourself - the tree painting looks better in a proper context. Maybe someone will put a red dot on it.

  8. Thanks, Liz.

Good eye for the red dot.

Actually have more exhibit space that I didn't capture with this photo. Really nice. Just wanted to give a sense of the work in place. On the blog, everything looks about the same size.

  9. What an honor and certainly well deserved, Jean.
I rather like the setting... it smacks of old fashioned good taste. The fireplace is amazing and I like the deep color of the walls..
You mentioned an upstairs ballroom and I bet that is wonderful too.
Your work looks strong and I know you received many kudos.

  11. Thank you, Julie.

The building is wonderful. Once a year it is featured in the architecture foundation 's tour. I've volunteered for that, so I've learned a fair amount of the mansion's history.
