At the Stables (work in progress)

When it's hot, I look for a shady place. This, an oil painting on a 30"x40" canvas, is my first stab at painting the San Pascual Stables, in the arroyo area of South Pasadena.

  2. This one feels really fresh - it has an immediacy to it - very nice!

Good idea to find a spot in the shade too.

  3. Not bad for a 1st stabbing at the stables, JS.

  4. Somehow I'm going to find a way to talk you into coming out to my stables. What would it take Jean?

  6. I like this very much. 30" x 40". That's pretty big for outdoor work.

  7. KB, JS said she needs a model for some live nude model posing. If interested, she'll be over to ck out your Stables.

  8. Okay, so this is what happens when I leave you on your own.

    Thanks, Margaret, Katherine and CP.

AH, I'll let you and CP duke it out. (I probably could be enticed with a simple invitation.)

PA, I know you are a local (at least I think I know this from your blog). Am I right?

Shanna, I am so not a plein air painter. I did however venture outside to photograph the stables a couple of times this week. (Sadly, the few times I've tried painting outdoors--always in connection with some class--I either end up with essentially a portrait of a tree or else some more or less evenly distributed daubs, suitable for painting over.)
