A few of yesterday's drawings

These are drawings from life on approximately18"x24" paper. I used a stick of soft willow charcoal and a kneaded eraser. The middle pose was 25 minutes long, the rest were 10 minute poses. The model did an amazingly good job of holding these expressive poses, which made drawing her a pleasure.

  1. These posts of amazing drawings done in 15-25 minutes almost make me laugh. I'm just so incredulous. How can you do that in 25 minutes? Amazing

  2. What a great model to work from. Angles everywhere. The simple choice of line for the breast on the third drawing really makes it for me

To Margret...I want to repond to your posts but am being denied access. When I get home I will

  3. Margaret, I focus really intently on my subject, so it's not something to try when I'm tired. I get into something like a meditative state, and my analytic ability pretty much disappears. Other than that, it's just practice and like jazz--there's improvisation. Some days it flows, others, it dries up.

PA, she's a terrific model, tall and athletic and able to hold remarkably still. She's fairly new to modeling, at least at Art Center, and I'd never drawn her before.

  5. AH, you're so right. I expect, if you stick with it, you'll be one, too. Is there a star system in yoga generally, or is this a product of the competitive nature of the acting business?

    Thanks, rjoyner.

Thanks, Shanna. I agree. She is a terrific addition to the LA art world.
