  5. PA, the cabinets in my kitchen are some kind of very browned out dark purple. I didn't choose the color but I like it.

  6. I saw this one in my dashboard a few days ago and loved the vibrant color. Now that I am here looking at the full view, it's even better.
I love the tones and shading. Her expression and posture are so natural. Truly masterful Jean.

  7. That could work; like purple heart (an exotic wood)

I was just kidding...although if you mix the purple with some of the background color, you do have the walls of my East LA bathroom. To add to the trauma I went out and found this linoleum place on San Gabriel blvd (above the freeway) who was overstocked with 70's rolls. Ended up with some faux flagstone rocks aka the Flintstones. Actually it would be kind of hip today. Then it was cheap and I was poor.

  8. So, are you done with the kitchen? The purple cabinets--really, they are just very very dark, close to brown--and they look good. It's the kind of color that only someone with a lot of experience and confidence would use; but the person who did it (who used to live here) is a designer of interiors, so she had that.

Most of the house has whitish walls and lots of light; terrific for artwork.

  11. Thanks, Barbara.

Pastel card is a support with a surface scratchy like sandpaper, but thick and stiff, like a piece of cardboard. It's made by various manufacturers; the support I used is made by Sennelier.

The sandpaper-y surface grabs the pastel and also seems to intensify the pigment.

  12. Thanks, Susan. I just have a bit of this pastel stick (actually, block) left, I've favored it so much.

  13. That's of the lighter purple. The darker is a thin stick of nu-pastel.
