Gold/Black 1; Calm Heart 2

 Drawn today, from life.

"Gold/Black 1" is Tombow marker and pastel on soft, highly textured and absorbent watercolor paper, about 6"x9".  The paper was a gift from a talented artist, Heather Joy Thomas.  (Thanks, again, Heather.)

"Calm Heart 2" is Tombow marker on smoother watercolor paper, about 7"x12".

  1. Wow, Jean. That top one is very seductive. I love the curves and the wild hair. So much energy. I thought it was already hanging on a gallery wall.

  2. Two fabulous sketches with a slight preference for the second one, such a relaxed atmosphere!

  3. I'm just discovering that you're up and running again. Good!

I like these just fine, but to be honest, I like the previous ones even better--from March 1 thru April 16, especially the middle one Monday and the top one March 9. It's probably the roundedness and dreaminess that appeal, since I know virtually nothing about the technical aspects.

  4. Both drawings are wonderful. I love how you handle the brush. Lots of character in these nudes.

  5. Thanks, all.

    Now, I am, too, Margaret.

  6. That one on top on top of, is just stunning. My initial impression was one of a woman sobbing, but I realize now there could be other scenarios.

  7. Wonderful. I am taken by the colors in the second.

  8. Thank you, AH and Ruth. What's a little strange about the top drawing is that I saw it as the model taking a pose that was modest (face and front hidden). Also, sustainable for about 30 minutes, the length of the pose because she's supported by many pillows.

  9. The last sentence (fragment) should read: Also, sustainable for about 30 minutes--the length of the pose-- because she's supported by many pillows.
