Ink and pastel over Tombow marker, on 8" x 8" watercolor paper.
I will be joining five other artists in "Summer Suite 2015." This show will be at the historic Palette and Chisel building on Dearborn Street in Chicago.
Opening night is June 5. The show continues through June 15.
Wonderful piece... Congratulations on the show.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anthony.
ReplyDeleteHaving the luxury of space to display work is exciting and challenging.
Gorgeous work Jean - poetic. Congratulations on your upcoming exhibition!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katherine.
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there. I'd love to see your work up close. This has wonderful atmosphere. I do appreciate how you mix mediums to achieve great depth of expression. Break a leg while I fix meals for my visiting family. Any other time, Chicago is just four hours away.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a longish trip to me. I admire your spirit and am sorry not to meet you. Maybe another time. Have fun with the family.
Excellent - and so is this piece. Loving the smudgy purple effect
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. They're lucky to have you. So am I; I have two Jean's.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz and Karin.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about this.
Liz, any advice?
looks like theres nothing to do but show up - and have fun
DeleteEasy to say. The only time I showed up before was when I was told I had been awarded a small prize and needed to show up to get it.
DeleteBut I'm going to give the have fun part a shot, since I think showing up is necessary for this endeavor.
did I mention liquid courage? first thing I do at all openings is head for the cheap wine and brie. Makes all the difference ; )
DeleteAn approach like that would have to be carefully calibrated for me; I am way too quick to go from sober to headache-y.
DeleteMaybe pretending it's someone else's work? Or ? ?
iPad and Blogger have agreed to disagree I think, I try commenting but I guess I'm a robot.
ReplyDeleteWhat I wanted to say was congratulations and enjoy the run. I like Woman in Fog very much, a perfect blue.
Thanks, Karin.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky you have them.
Thanks, PJ.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry blogger is giving you grief.
First world problem. I like to laze around and tour blogs late in the evening, PC isn't as convenient but certainly more reliable.
DeleteI love my iPad, but blogger and it don't play well together.
DeleteLovely! And good luck on the show :) I had a peek further down too ;) Great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catharina.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautifully striking piece! The subtle textures and purposeful shadows are excellent - especially on the lower leg. Wish I could see your show and meet you in person! But I am about a 2-day drive and a house full of little boys away. I will have to continue to enjoy and learn from you from afar:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, minn. Maybe another time.
ReplyDeleteYou can see a lot in online images. Really the major differences are scale, color and texture.
Love the movement of her body, and your use of lines !
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane.
ReplyDeleteI had some fun with losing the lines in places, inspired by a very foggy day.
