Some of today's sketches

Today was the day I returned to drawing from life, after a couple of weeks off. These are ink sketches, probably in the 10 to 15 minute range, on about 5.5"x 8.5" watercolor paper.

  3. Oh, now I have to look up Schiele

  4. Egon Schiele (born 1890), actually one of my favorites, died very young, of flu (1918). He left behind wonderful drawings and paintings. Definitely look him up.

  5. I like the second one. I like how the ink is so bold and it contrasts with the more pastel colors around it.

  6. Thanks, Margaret. I had some fun with the light-colored inks.

  7. If they're going to use Schiele as a comparison I'd choose the second drawing (except his arms are a tad more beefy then was Schiele's preference).

I side with M on this

  8. How did you and PA get so smart? I'm enjoying learning about Schiele. Hope I'm pronouncing it right.

  9. Thanks for including the link in your comment, PA. I need to learn to do this. This model (and the one from two weeks ago) were both amazingly muscular--major gym time, something probably not in vogue in turn of the century Vienna.

AH, I learned about Schiele a few years ago--actually looked him up because he was referenced in a novel I was reading (the Time Traveler's Daughter).

John, I just wanted to let you know that I like your Robot painting--tried to post a comment on your site, but it doesn't accept my comments.
