Woman In Grey

Painted this morning, from life.

Oil on 24"x36" canvas.

The light this morning was strong.  Blue sky, clear, cold weather, fairly calm.

The model posed in front of a large window, with extra light coming from her left.

  6. Thanks, Pamo, Anthony and Pierre.

I've changed it a bit since the morning. Now I'm leaving it alone.

    I'll re-assess later.

  7. Beautiful Jean. The way you've placed the division line in the background and especially the way you've brought the background into her hair. Very sophisticated bit of painting on your part

  8. What a nice horizontal format. I like the composition, how you've used the space, and the expressiveness of her hands.

  9. She seems young but pensive, which I usually don't associate with a garden setting with that kind of light. It all works.

  10. With all the green you have in this, I don't feel Dec in this one.

But, this work does spark interest in captioning it.

  11. She looks like she's eagerly -- or perhaps nervously -- anticipating something.

  15. Cafe, it's December in Austin: One day it's warm and sunny, the next, cold and grey.

  16. Bandit and Ann, I'm glad it feels like anticipation and motion; those parts, I've left untouched.
