These are pastel and charcoal on 12"x16" black pastel paper.

The seated figures are 30-minute poses; the standing figure is a 15-minute pose.

  1. More creative stuff to be jealous of. I wish I had your artistic freedom.

  2. I like the backgrounds. THe bottom one makes me think of a haunted house for some reason.

  3. The top one is my favorite of these:)

  4. It's #1 for me. It looks more natural, even with the suggestion that she's almost growing from the leaves. (Calls to mind your woman on a cloud, or in a dream, was it?).

  5. yes, the first one. excellent.

Your drawing skills are greatly improving. Austin must really agree with you.

Something kind of retro in these three for me. Can't nail what it is yet. Some time to think about it

  6. The figure in the first one looks like something has caught her attention and she is about to get up-gives one two spaces to think about-the one she is in, and the one she is going to-love it!

  7. I saw the retro, too. I don't maybe something a little Kay Nielsen, but definitely without the misery.

Putting my vote in for Door #2. I think she's lovely.

  8. Interesting figures which leave me wordless except they put a smile on my face.

  9. Thanks, again, Pierre, for that praise. By the way, check out the comments section of my December 9 post. I got back to you and Banjo on at least one painting that the drawing brought to my mind.

  12. PA and AH, retro is exactly what the model put me in mind of with her poses.

In specific, I was reminded of Vargas girls. (Just search "Vargas girls" in google images and you'll get the idea.)

  14. PA, I followed the link.

Very interesting stuff by Maria Lassnig. I love the self-portraits with missing parts.

    Thanks.
