  1. I'm always pulled in by black and white. I very much like this.

  3. BnW adds something to a scene. It certainly does here.

  4. Very unique, Jane! I really like all your monochromatic pieces, but this one is particularly striking... maybe it is the composition... maybe the lines and texture... maybe the b&w... whatever it is: FANTASTIC!

  5. "Green and Gold"'s lady looks more peaceful to me. I can't explain why, but this B&W woman looks at least a little troubled. I don't think the absence of color is the whole answer, maybe not even part of the answer. Interesting.

  6. I really like this "black and white" drawing. Where some would find the lack of color a downer, I find color distracts attention from the form. Shades of gray emphasize form as well as line.

  7. Thanks, all. I like black a lot.

Anthony, it is pen--the marker-- and wash, with a bit of pastel added.

Banjo, she does have a very different feeling from the other sleeping woman. Expression in the figure contributes, also the expression in the surroundings, down to the ink running down the page.

  8. good work Jean. Interesting with the bleeding out and how it picks up bits of blue and pink - the color of a healthy bruise?
