Trees at Night
This is an oil painting on a shellacked hardwood board, about 24"x20." Another Pasadena Old Town scene, this time off a side street, at the side of a parking lot.
I was inspired to paint these trees by a recent post by Vivien Blackburn, at paintings prints and stuff, of trees she had drawn and painted.

is this still on Tree St. I mean, Green St?
ReplyDeleteI like the cave in the lower middle right between the trunks.
Thanks, CO. (Can't beat astigmatism combined with nearsighted.) This is off of Pasadena Avenue, just south of Colorado Blvd. Same night, same walk. (Now back to the game.)
ReplyDeleteI meant, my vision, not yours. Yours appears to be fine.
ReplyDeleteWow. The trees look like bodies, doing a ballet.
ReplyDeletethese are great - trees at night I haven't done (beaches yes, but not trees)
ReplyDeletethis is realy good !!! the way you used the colors for contruct the image is very inspiring .wonderful
ReplyDeleteThe swish of blue at the vanishing point is a nice discovery. Your attention to color and it's placement is strong. I hope you caught one of the art events over the weekend. I'll be posting them this week or next
ReplyDeleteI really like this one - the perspective and the way you are using color to turn form on the trees.
ReplyDeleteI like Vivien's work very much.
Thanks, all. I'm besotted with trees, and this is the first of my renditions of trees in many years that I think comes close to doing them justice.
ReplyDeletePA, I missed everything this weekend. All I did was paint, garden briefly, go to the PCC swap meet briefly, and catch the last part of the Laker game on TV. So I guess I'll be catching up with the local art world on your posts. Maybe I can pry myself out to some stuff this week.
This is very cool - I love the way you create atmosphere in your paintings. There's a lot going on thee.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Casey.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to finally have some time to stroll through this blog of yours. You have an affinity for the ficus--and they obviously love you, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan.
Thanks, Mademoiselle G.
