Painted this morning, from life.
Oil on 24"x36" canvas.
The light this morning was strong. Blue sky, clear, cold weather, fairly calm.
The model posed in front of a large window, with extra light coming from her left.

Woman in Grey...in the bright light.
ReplyDeleteOh Jean! This is gorgeous!! I love the greens and her expression is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful painting. I love the expression and the moody colors.
ReplyDeleteAnother triumph Jean. Very dreamy look. I like it much.
ReplyDeleteCafe, I first thought I'd call it "December Morning Light."
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pamo, Anthony and Pierre.
ReplyDeleteI've changed it a bit since the morning. Now I'm leaving it alone.
I'll re-assess later.
Beautiful Jean. The way you've placed the division line in the background and especially the way you've brought the background into her hair. Very sophisticated bit of painting on your part
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice horizontal format. I like the composition, how you've used the space, and the expressiveness of her hands.
ReplyDeleteShe seems young but pensive, which I usually don't associate with a garden setting with that kind of light. It all works.
ReplyDeleteWith all the green you have in this, I don't feel Dec in this one.
ReplyDeleteBut, this work does spark interest in captioning it.
motion
ReplyDeleteShe looks like she's eagerly -- or perhaps nervously -- anticipating something.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting Jean. I love the light in it. It looks like water behind her in an exotic garden.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Jean and I like the pose you chose for the painting. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the shape and colors of wall.
ReplyDeleteThanks, PA, Katherine and K.
ReplyDeleteCafe, it's December in Austin: One day it's warm and sunny, the next, cold and grey.
ReplyDeleteBandit and Ann, I'm glad it feels like anticipation and motion; those parts, I've left untouched.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeanette. It feels more like water than anything else, maybe pond.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cynthia and AH.
