Drawing from life is definitely the way to go. This and your last sleeping woman are very moving. I hope all was well with her, but I have a feeling, it wasn't. The drawings have a melancholy feel to them. You have such a good hand. I could have used your on hand advice yesterday.
You are right, on both points. Life wins over photo, when I have a choice. And this woman looks like she is in a lot of pain. That was probably more what I brought to the drawing, than what the model brought.
Anyone who draws regularly will have days when they are hurting and drawing despite the pain.
Lately, I've been using life drawing as a starting place for works that combine reality, imagination and experience.

Remind me of my mother a little bit. She is in a photo on my blog - way in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Helen. I'm going to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that there is a melancholy feel to this. Very honest.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret.
