I like Najma's point about the diagonal, but it's the colors that wow me even more. Also the suddenly sharp definition of her let hand. A lot of drama in her restful pose--a nice tension.
This is irrelevant, but for what it's worth, my first thought was, "Fish tank." Typical dumbass English major?
Lately, I've been using life drawing as a starting place for works that combine reality, imagination and experience.

This is beautiful Jean. I love the dominant diagonal line-it just anchors the whole piece. How many blues are there?
ReplyDeleteLike this so much.. Each touch and splash is just right.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Najma and Anthony.
ReplyDeleteOne blue marker, one yellow. One black ink pen.
Oops. No black ink, just the markers.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in this one...

Thanks, Chieftess. Me too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Banjo. Under water is what I thought too. I also feel like her arm is resting on a giant crystal.
My favorites of yours always have a sense of water -- ocean, river, or lake.
ReplyDeletelike this palate - nice split on the diagonal
ReplyDeleteThanks, AH and PA.
ReplyDeleteThe diagonal was my first line.
