Woman Sleeping in Chair

Drawn from life, last Spring.

Charcoal on paper, about 7" x 12".

PEOPLE WATCH:

Still a good day for a swim, if you don't mind the chance of thundersorms.

  5. I came to visit and got side tracked by the Bitch is Back. But I'm back from Greece now and again admiring your talent with charcoal. This is a very nice piece of work. Willow? --Now that it has dawned on me that there are different grades of charcoal.

  6. Great modeling of volume and light. I think you caught the weight of her relaxed body so well.

  7. Thanks, Julie.

Same model for this as for the recent charcoal portraits I've posted. This is the closest to giving a feeling of what she looks like.

  8. I mean, the others are full of expression and emotion that come from places other than the model.

  9. Thanks, Lind.

Not willow. This is hard rectangular prism (about 1/4 inch wide) stick of charcoal. Plus kneaded eraser, plus charcoal filings from sanding, plus hand (in nitrile glove, so hand stays clean), plus chamois, plus paper towel.

  10. It looks so natural, yet I wonder how many women sit naked in their easy chairs.

  11. In my experience, most do, but then, I do life drawing.

Went to see Magic Mike last night. Only made it through 2/3 of movie. I've seen too many nudes for that to sustain my interest.

BTW, it was like girls night out in the theater. Only two men in entire audience.
