I like the process of getting those sharp and soft marks. The brush, a sumi brush, is fun to use, usually for the purpose of getting the loose drippy marks.
Lately, I've been using life drawing as a starting place for works that combine reality, imagination and experience.

Another masterful portrait!!! She has quite an expression on her face... Love how you detailed the eyes...
ReplyDeleteLots of power in her gaze.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when I was young and short and the teacher would look down on me...just like that!
Thanks, Chieftess and Julie.
ReplyDeleteShe does gaze down at us, mainly because the model was up on a stand and I was seated well below eye level.
I really like the balance of sharpness and softness. Love the looesness of the brush.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katherine.
