Dreaming in Blue and Purple (iPad drawing 5)

Drawn from life, yesterday.

At the gym.

  1. Love all the purple - looks like you are 'hooked' on iPad drawing app!

My recent post is from the farmers' market near my home which is on Saturday. Portland has about 30 farmers' markets around town, so you can go to a different one each day of the week!

  2. Okay. You have whetted my appetite for iPad art. You are a master. I have to come close. I went and downloaded ArtRage (one word) last night, for three bucks. It is the most interesting of the ones I downloaded before, but more complicated to operate. I made an absolute fool of myself drawing Ellis who kept saying, "What are you looking at?" So, I took a photo of him, (unbeknownst to him), and fooled around with that all evening making all sorts of errors as I tried the different tools. It was great fun, but frustrating knowing your work. I'll be doing that again the next few nights. You are an inspiration Jean. Tonight I might download Sketch Club and see what that's all about.

What I don't like about ArtRage is: I can't wipe the slate clean as I'm learning by trial and error.

What I like about this drawing is you're doing very well at the blending. It's very exciting and, as I said, inspiring. Also, very painterly. Good app. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  3. I got art rage too! They should pay you a commission. My daughter is really enjoying it.

  4. WOW, Jane! This looks very "real", as in a Jane-original-with-a-physical-brush real. Excellent!

  5. It looks like sculpture a bit? There is depth. Amazing this is digital.

  6. Thanks, Helen. Purple gets a lot of attention from me. At least in digital the pigments are free and I can lavish as much paint as I like.

I will be in Portland soon, visiting family, and I will definitely try to get to a market.

  7. Thanks, Linda.

    Still just fooling around.

So far, I have drawn everything in a single layer. I just treat it like a real support (paper or canvas, thus far).

  8. Margaret, I agree.

Showed Sketch Club to the ore-teen daughter of a friend, and her dad immediately bought the app and gave her his iPad. Now that's a supportive dad.

Btw, what she did with was fabulous.

  9. Thanks, Minn.

I think so too. It's not polished like digital frequently is, but messy like me.

  10. Thanks, Anthony.

One layer, lots of painting and wiping and painting and . . . .

  11. I'm assuming you left the shopping mall...

  12. It looks like you ran out of paper. Something I remember well about life drawing - and the time some chick pointed out in the critique how BIG I made the models penis. Never made that mistake again

  13. I wanted to crop it there, but didn't know how. So I just forged ahead and now I know how but kind of like the messy smudged look.

  14. About penis size, I am sure you didn't hear a complaint from the model.
