Reclining Woman In Red, White And Blue 2

I drew some more on Tuesday's Reclining Woman.

I like most of the changes, but I think I may go back and add some more fleshy colors.

Studio update:

I have put away enough stuff that I can start painting again at home.  Yay!

Means I can work bigger, when I like.  As I often do.

And I can start going back to the plein air oil sketches and turn them into paintings.

  1. More drama, but keeping what I loved about the first. She's calm, intelligent, thoughtful. And I love the face and hip.

  3. If it's a comparison issue, I tend to like it when you leave areas under worked. Such is the case with my favorite of your drawings as well as the lighter line work and warmth in the older version of this one. That being said; do what you want.

  4. Hi Jean, I like how your strong use of line gives your figure a sculptural quality; most expressive! And, I enjoy looking at the oil pastel work.

Congrats on being able to paint at home!

  5. Thanks, Pierre. I like both versions, which is why I kept the first one up and didn't just replace it.

  6. AH, thanks. Me, too. (Love the face and hip.) (Sometimes I'm calm and intelligent.)

  7. Pamo, thanks. I'm excited to have it this far along, but I still have more to unpack to take advantage fully of the wonderful space.

  8. PA, me too. I like to have areas where my eye works harder and areas that are calm.

  11. I like both, but I'm with PA, in preferring the first version. I don't know why, but I don't think it loses any drama in spite of its subtler lines and colors.

  12. Banjo, kind of glad to hear it. (Read it.)

This version looks frozen. I'm changing it and making it live again, I hope.
