Brown/Blue 1; Seated Figure in Green; Gesture Orange

These three drawings are each on 5"x8" watercolor paper, sketched this morning, from life.  The middle drawing is cropped to about 5" square.

These are posted in reverse order of drawing, so that the top drawing is the last one I drew, the bottom is the first drawing of the day.  I arrived very late and couldn't stay to the end, so these three drawings were all I did.   I think one can really tell with this group that I got more into it as I drew.

  1. You are so good. --You came to my place, I figured you had just posted too and were taking a load off after a successful draw. I love the color you use and how fluid your figures are. Beautiful--they sort of undulate around the picture plane. Very cool.

  2. Thanks! And good detective work! It's a rainy day, here, and I'm happy to have made it back with myself and my car intact.

  3. The top one is beautiful. The foreshortening and the dark void makes everything else balance out

  4. Thanks, Liz. These are posted in reverse order of drawing, and I think one can really tell with this group that I got more into it as I drew.

I love your new photo icon.

  5. These are beautiful-my favourite though is Sleeping Blue from May 2- it has such a sense of repose about it.

  8. Thanks, Najma, Margaret and Denise.

Najma, I also really like that sleeping blue.

Margaret, so far, this spring has been a much more fertile period than last spring.

  9. I can feel the size of these works.
    These are the same person?

  10. You've arranged these in my order of preference, so I'll just add that the top one is by far my favorite. I'm a sucker for curves and shadows, but those subtle colors are fascinating too. I'd never have thought of that combo, yet I like it a lot.
