    Katherine, it does turn to landscape, paradoxically, as I move in closer.

    Najma, not really, except that my other markers were dried up or used up.

    I actually like different greens used for portrait sketches, especially with browns or ochers.

  6. Landscape! I hadn't thought of it that way, and I really like it. Likewise the green--I'm almost comforted by your explanation of how you chose it--I'd certainly never have thought of it, but it works here.

  9. This has a lovely coloration. The paper appears almost a pale lavender in the lower left. Is this an optical effect from the green or did you place a wash of color.
    I especially love the hand supporting the neck.

    I am not sure, but I think you are seeing effects of lighting, combined with a bit of wash.
